FAQ

Questions about Yfiniq, answered plainly.

The questions people actually ask before trusting a finance app with anything, answered without marketing language. If something here rules Yfiniq out for you, that is a fine outcome — better now than after you have entered six months of transactions.

Getting started and what it is

Does Yfiniq connect to my bank?

No. Yfiniq has no bank integration — you add accounts and transactions yourself. Nothing ever asks for your banking credentials, because there is nothing to connect.

What is an AI personal finance assistant?

It is an app you can talk to about your own money. Rather than hunting through screens, you ask a question in plain language — “what did I spend on groceries in July?” — and Yfiniq reads your ledger and answers, or records the transaction, budget or goal for you. It only ever sees the data in your own account.

How do I get my data in?

Enter accounts and transactions directly, or ask the assistant in plain language and it will record them for you. Automatic bank import is not available.

What does the AI assistant do with my data?

To answer a question it sends the relevant parts of your financial data to an external AI provider. If one provider is unavailable the request fails over, so a single question may reach more than one of them. Every provider we use is named in our Privacy Policy.

Do you sell my data?

No. Yfiniq runs no advertising and no analytics or behavioural tracking. The one third party that sees anything is our error-diagnostics tool, and only when something breaks — request contents, your email and your IP are stripped before it is sent.

Does Yfiniq handle investments?

Yes. Holdings you enter roll up into your net-worth number, with cost basis and unrealised gains. Yfiniq never places trades.

Can I delete my data?

You can delete any chat conversation, or your entire chat history, and the records are removed from the database rather than hidden.

Cost, platform and your data

What does Yfiniq cost?

Nothing. It is free while in early access, and there is no billing system in the product — no card is stored, no plan exists to upgrade to, and nothing can charge you.

Is there a mobile app?

No. Yfiniq is a web app and runs in any modern browser, on a phone as well as a desktop. There is no iOS or Android app, and any listing claiming otherwise is not us.

Which currencies does Yfiniq support?

Every ISO 4217 currency code, plus an “other” option for anything outside the standard. Each account carries its own currency rather than the whole app being locked to one.

Can I get my data out?

Yes. Export produces one JSON document containing everything Yfiniq holds for your account. It is not gated behind a plan, and it is not a summary — it is the records themselves.

Can I delete my account entirely?

Yes. Deleting your account removes your rows from the database rather than flagging them hidden, and there are integration tests that check the data is genuinely gone afterwards.

Can the assistant delete something by accident?

It cannot delete anything without an explicit confirmation from you, and that rule is enforced by the server rather than by the instructions given to the model — a model that ignored the instruction still gets rejected before anything runs. Deletions that do happen can be undone.

Do I have to use the AI assistant?

No. Every screen works without it, and it is the only part of Yfiniq that sends your data to an external provider. If you never open it, nothing about your finances leaves the app.
